Ulthera System (Altera System) SMAS Lifting
The superficial muscular aponeurotic system, or SMAS, is the name given to the muscular aponeurotic layer of our skin. It is responsible for the clarity and firmness of the facial contour and it is this layer that is affected by ultrasound waves during SMAS lifting.
Micro-focused ultrasound penetrates the various skin layers - from superficial to SMAS - and heats them point by point. When the temperature in the skin and subcutaneous fat increases, the collagen fibres and connective tissue of the fat interlayers thicken.
The skin begins to tighten. A lifting effect is achieved without surgical intervention.
In addition, old collagen begins to break down in the skin and new collagen begins to appear. This occurs when the tissue is heated to a certain, threshold temperature. The effect of the injections lasts for 3-4 months. This is enough time for the wrinkles around the eyes to be smoothed out. It must be understood that botulinum therapy does not help against eyelid overhangs and puffiness.
Photo-rejuvenation
The skin is treated with different light sources. It is not ultraviolet and the treatment is harmless. Photo-rejuvenation stimulates the synthesis of collagen fibres, tightens the skin and eliminates wrinkles. The results last from 6 months to a year.
Laser eyelid resurfacing
The beam vaporises the surface of the skin, but does not penetrate into the deeper layers. This "shock therapy" stimulates regenerative processes. The skin tightens and dark spots disappear. The bags may not be removed completely, but they will become considerably smaller. The effect lasts for 5 to 7 years.
Creams and ointments
If we are not talking about professional cosmetics (their cost starts from 3000 roubles and they are not sold in the "Podruzhka" shop), most ointments and creams can in no way solve the problem of the return of facial fat packs and the reduction of pigmentation of the skin itself. Even if you're promised a miraculous transformation, remember that any results are only possible with the use of professional cosmetics and regular use. Almost 99% of the creams recommended in advertisements to solve under-eye area problems are marketing gimmicks or outright deception.
The effect of creams and ointments is negligible. It is possible to slightly improve the condition of the skin, but pigmentation can only be lightened with professional cosmetic products.
- Instant effect creams. In detail, we will only focus on formulations that work immediately and have nothing to do with cosmetology and cosmetics - these are products from the realm of professional make-up artists.
- An ointment containing silicone components is applied to the area of bags under the eyes; the water evaporating reduces the area of the product, thus "tightening" the skin bags as well.
The composition lasts for up to 12 hours, but this area must not be moistened, otherwise the entire composition will be washed away.
Similar products are available to correct under-eye circles - there is no need to "tighten" the skin, just tint the dark-coloured area. The effect also lasts for up to 12 hours.
Again, these products have nothing to do with cosmetology.
Masks
A purely grooming treatment that will do nothing for circles and especially bruises under the eyes. Even "magic" masks made from "virgin cow's milk", despite their promises, won't help in any way.
The effect of the masks is practically non-existent.
Massage can indirectly affect the problem and improve microcirculation in the periorbital area, which naturally occurs when the mask is applied. But the mask itself is useless.
Patches
Most patches are promotional promises. Of the whole range of offerings, the tightening patches (action similar to instant creams) and patches with hyaluronic acid micro-needles are worth looking out for.
Hyaluronic acid applied to the skin under the eyes has little to no effect on pigmentation and bags. However, when delivered to the dermis itself, it can improve its condition and even partially reduce pigmentation.
It won't help against bags under the eyes, but it will do for uncomplicated dark circles! The patches should have micro-needles - cones made of hyaluronic acid - that you "pierce" the skin under the eyes with and wait for the micro cones to dissolve.
It is quite painful and requires a course to achieve results. The cost of the patches is from 15000 roubles per pair. There are a lot of fakes on the market.
Laser biorevitalisation
Pure deception!
A biorevitalisation procedure involves injecting biorevitalising agents into the dermis. The laser can either heat the skin or heat vaporise the tissue. In the first case, the integrity of the skin is not even compromised; in the second case, the skin areas after the laser (essentially micro-burns) will not be able to absorb the composition of the product in any way.
Rubbing biorevitalisants into the skin is also pointless (there are separate treatments for this), and what does the laser have to do with it?
There is no laser biorevitalisation procedure and it doesn't help with under-eye circles.
On its own, non-ablative laser treatment can rejuvenate the skin, but it will not get rid of the dark colour in the lower eyelid area.
Opinions/feedback from cosmetologists
The under-eye area is quite thin skin with many blood vessels and nerve endings.
Beauty therapists often inject medication directly into the periorbital area with a standard syringe, but qualified professionals will confirm that this is not acceptable in all cases.
Transconjunctival blepharoplasty is performed without incisions, but the surgery has a more limited range of aesthetic indications. If there is excess skin, this method may not be suitable.

Unapproved and uncertified cosmetics can even be harmful to your health!!!
Good Korean (as well as Swiss, Italian, Japanese, German, Russian and others) patches are used only for instant toning of eyelid skin and lightening of dark circles under eyes. Moreover, any patches are a kind of "SOS-means", intended for gathering for important and solemn events.
As a long-term care product, they are absolutely useless. They are not able to "dissolve" age-related fatty hernias and relieve deep swellings, neither urgently nor in the long term with daily use.
Yes, as always there is one exception: patches with micro-needles of crystallised hyaluronic acid. These micro-needles penetrate the dermis and resorb there, saturating it with nutrients, moisturising it and stimulating neocollagenesis. BUT: these really need to be micro-needles, which should not be 'leaned' on the skin, but 'stuck' into it. This is painful.
The cost of these patches starts at 10,000 per pair and the course of treatment starts at 5 treatments.
Fat hernias are dense and strong enough to be "frightened" by a superficial application of caffeine. The stimulating properties of the component can briefly activate blood microcirculation, lymph outflow and nutrition of small muscles, thus slightly neutralising the accompanying swelling.
Only "beauty injections" (contouring + mesotherapy) or radical surgical blepharoplasty can reduce or eliminate true fat hernias.
Ascorbic acid helps to partially lighten pigmentation, and if the appearance of dark circles is due to excessive melanin synthesis, the statement has merit. Lemon juice will have to be used regularly for 1.5-2 months to achieve a minimal effect. Now imagine what will happen to the delicate, sensitive and vulnerable skin of the eyelids after daily dabbing with a "caustic" acidic liquid.
The hasty return of dark circles after the experiment is likely to be joined by catastrophic dehydration, severe peeling, the formation of sharp, deep wrinkles. And the "gift" of allergies.
A course of injectable or injection-free mesotherapy with cocktails containing adapted synthetic vitamin C would be a much wiser solution.
Low-molecular hyaluronic acid, concentrated in expensive luxury creams, partially penetrates to the deeper layers of the skin. One molecule of hyaluronic acid traps up to 500 water molecules around itself, catalysing an increase, not a decrease, in swelling.
The high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid found in low-priced analogues can dry out the skin when the humidity in the environment is low. Sudden dehydration induces a kind of shock in the tissues, and they begin to store moisture "in reserve". The swelling naturally increases.
For these trivial reasons, women who have actually tried hyaluronic acid-based eye creams often complain about the opposite effect to that claimed.
As absurd as it may sound, there is some truth in it.
Haemorrhoids are a consequence of varicose veins. The symptoms can be quickly relieved by systemic or topical application of venotonics. Venotonics quickly "unload" the blood flow, remove excess fluid and reduce swelling. Venotonic compresses really remove the puffiness under the eyes if it is provoked by lack of sleep or other exogenous physiological reasons. But do not use them permanently - only in emergencies.
As for deep swellings and hernias, varicose vein preparations are powerless here.
If you are a competent lymphatic drainage massage specialist, you are. You will actually be able to reduce the puffiness under your eyes. If, however, you are massaging from amateur YouTube "tutorials", prepare to have the opposite effect. The transient puffiness will become persistent, the slight puffiness will increase 1.5-2 times, and the skin will stretch and soon be covered by a network of wrinkles.
Hand and machine massage at home is a highly controversial procedure. We strongly recommend that you refrain from such experiences.
Camouflaging a blemish is not as easy as it may seem. As we age, thick layers of concealers and foundations only add to age and highlight imperfections. And if you apply them to "solid" bags under the eyes, you can not hide the latter. Rather, it accentuates your problem.
